Man impregnates two daughters, attempts raping third

A 58-year-old man from Agbura community, Yenagoa Local Government, Bayelsa State was on Thursday arrested by the police for allegedly impregnating his two daughters.

The suspect, whose name was not disclosed, was also said to have attempted to rape his third daughter.

Our correspondent gathered that the arrest was initiated by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Mrs. Pulu Zifawei.

A nine-year-old girl is thought to have committed suicide in the bathroom of her home on Sunday after telling family members that she 'wanted to die'.

Father Sells His 6 Month Old Son To Pay For Visa

A father, Mr Onyekachi Ekwelum, who sold his six-month-old baby to raise money to process his travel documents, has been charged before a magistrate in court to defend his action.

Mr Ekwelum allegedly hatched and executed the act without the consent of the wife, but the lid was blown off by his 20-year-old spouse, Ozioma, when she could not find their son and reported the matter to the police.

It was discovered that her husband wanted to abandon her and travel to Greece..

The Abia State of Nigeria commissioner of Police, Mr Usman Abubakar Tilli, who disclosed this to newsmen in his office on Monday said the police mounted a man hunt that led to therescue of the child and arrest of the suspects.

Baroness Thatcher had been staying at the Ritz Hotel in Central London for several months and it is understood that she died there this morning. She will receive a ceremonial funeral with military honours at St Paul's Cathedral. Prime Minister David Cameron said: 'It was with great sadness that l learned of Lady Thatcher's death. We've lost a great leader, a great Prime Minister and a great Briton'. She was last pictured in public on October 13 last year, dressed in blue as she left her home in London for lunch on her 87th birthday.

Legendary film critic, Roger Ebert, dies at 70

The American journalist, film critic and screenwriter, who was once described by Forbes as "the most powerful pundit in America" died today April 4th at the age of 70 after an 11-year battle with cancer.

Ebert underwent surgery in 2006 to remove cancerous tissue near his right jaw, which included removing a section of his lower jaw. The surgery took his ability to talk, eat or drink, but never stopped him from writing or reviewing movies.

Ebert began working as the Chicago Sun-Times film critic in 1967, and became a household name after winning the Pulitzer Prize in 1975 and hosting several movie-review TV shows.

Ebert was the first film critic to win a Pulitzer Prize, and the first to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. May his soul rest in peace...Amen.

Pastor accused of raping minors at orphanage

A pastor and director of Light of Hope Orphanage at Akute, Ogun State, identified simply as Mr. Atunde, was on Wednesday arrested by policemen from  Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos State for allegedly raping two minors at his orphanage.

It was learnt that Zone 2 began investigating Atunde after receiving a petition from Project Alert against him.

A "celebrity" Saudi preacher accused of raping, torturing and killing his five-year-old daughter has reportedly been released from custody after agreeing to pay "blood money".
Fayhan al-Ghamdi had been accused of killing his daughter Lama, who suffered multiple injuries including a crushed skull, broken back, broken ribs, a broken left arm and extensive bruising and burns. Social workers say she had also been repeatedly raped and burnt.
