Geneveive was unveiled as brand ambassador for Etisalat Easyflex (a product from telecoms company, Etisalat)  today at an event, which was also attended by fellow actor, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, who is also a brand ambassador for Etisalat.

Riot breaks out in Lagos State University, students stone VC ....See photos

Lagos State University students went on the rampage  today.

They disrupted the university’s second semester examination, destroying properties in the process and even stoning their University Vice Chancellor Prof. John Obafunwa as he made to escape their wrath.

 According to reports, the riot started when their VC decided not to open the registration portal for over 2,000 students who were yet to register their second semester courses as exams was to begin Thursday.

  According to the students, only 708 were able to register before the portal was shut again leaving,
1292 students to their fate.

When the students union government went to plead on behalf of the students, the VC was reported as saying those yet to register are insignificant and would automatically have to carry the session over, a statement which infuriated the students and they decided to take laws into their hands.

 

They started a riot, destroyed properties in the school and threw sticks and stones at the Vice Chancellor’s convoy as he made to escape through an alternative route beside Conoil Filling station.

38 years in prisonment for a teacher who slept with her 12yr old student

          
Former teacher Ethel Anderson, 31, (pictured above) was found guilty and sentenced to 38 years in prison in December 2013 for having sex with her 12 year old student.

The married mother of one had sex with one of her students, whose identity is being kept secret because of his age (he was 12 at the time). The alleged abuse started in 2011 just one month after the teacher and the minor started a tutoring session in her home. During her trial last year, the boy, now 14, told the court that she started by kissing him and progressed to giving him oral sex. 

"I felt like she was a girlfriend, I loved her and she said that I was her boyfriend and she loved me. She would rub on my legs, kiss on my ears, neck and stuff like that. We would tongue kiss. I lost my virginity to her. I told her to stop but she said she wanted me bad"

The boy's angry mother told the former 'teacher of the year', who worked as a language arts teacher at Mango Elementary School, in Florida, that she took her boy's innocence.

'Anger and hatred don't even begin to explain how I feel about what you took from my son. His innocence is lost forever.' She said in a statement read at the sentencing

Now there are people, especially blacks in America, who feel 38 years is too much to spend in prison for having sex with a minor...especially after a teacher, Laura Whitehurst (who is white) was sentenced to prison for 1 year and released after only 6 months for sleeping with three of her students and giving birth to a child fathered by one of them. Tanker fire burns 15 to death in Lagos.

The PUNCH gathered that; At least 15 people lost their lives in Lagos on Tuesday night  when  a tanker  laden with 33,000 litres of petrol lost control and rammed into vehicles at Kirikiri, Lagos.

Our correspondents learnt that the tanker spilt all its content, thereby  causing the  fire that burnt  a branch of Sterling Bank at  Berger Suya Bus Stop, one  Automated Teller Machine, 11 vehicles and 60 shops.

Most of the  dead were said to be passengers of a commercial bus  (danfo)  that was  behind the  tanker when it fell and exploded.

Breaking News : Pastor Dr. Sign Fireman arrested over alleged ritual murder of virgin girl

 Lagos miracle pastor Pastor Ofuche Ukoha, popularly known as Dr. Sign Fireman, has been arrested by Lagos police over alleged ritual murder of a 12 year old girl.

According to Sahara Reporters 

"Sign Fireman has been implicated in a ritual murder scandal involving a boy in his church who strangled a 12 year old girl while trying to obtain feces from her for ritual purposes.

The disclosure of Pastor Fireman's involvement in the scandal was made by an eighteen year old boy paraded by the police in Lagos. The teenage suspect (pictured above) stated during the parade that he was sent on the ritual mission by Pastor Fireman.

Court remands pastor, 4 others over N6.5m theft, burglary

OSOGBO — An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ court, yesterday, remanded a man believed to be pastor and four others for allegedly breaking into a shop in the city and carting away goods worth N6.5 million.

The accused are Peter Olawale, 34; Sunday Job, 27; Ajagbe Babatunde, 25; Olaiya Saidi, 23; and Adedeji Musibau, 24.

The Chief Magistrate, Adebayo Lasisi, said the men should be remanded in Ilesha prisons until their bail application is considered.

The prosecutor, Inspector Isiaka Ajadi, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on December 22, 2013 at 10.30 p.m. at Igbona area of Osogbo.

Human body parts ‘fall from sky’ in Saudi Arabia

 Human body parts fell from the sky in the Saudi city of Jeddah Sunday, with police saying they could be the remains of someone trapped in an aircraft’s undercarriage bay.
“Police received a telephone call at 2:30 am from a witness reporting the fall of human remains at an intersection in Mushrefa neighbourhood” in the Red Sea city, spokesman Nawaf bin Naser al-Bouq said in a statement.
