Johanna Sigurdardottir is Iceland's longest serving Member of
Parliament (MP) and also the country's first female to be Prime Minister
(PM).
In 2002, at the age of 60, Johanna Sigurdardottir married Jonina
Leosdottir, a writer, in a civil ceremony. Three decades ago, she was an
air stewardess and union official, and the mother of two sons married
to a banker. Same-sex marriage was legalized in Iceland in 2010.
