Two Commit Suicide, 70-Year-Old Man Murdered And Burnt

A 70-year-old ex-service man identified as Anthony Hermon was yesterday murdered and set ablaze by his killers in Ewogho bush in Otuokpotu in Ogbia Local Government area of Bayelsa state. Also confirmed dead in the last three days are two unidentified persons; a 32-year-old man and an 18-year-old girl in separate cases suspected to be suicide along the Police Barrack in the Women Affairs Ministry area and the Azikoro town of the State capital.

It has been gathered that operatives attached to the State Police Command have launched a manhunt for the killer of the 70 year old ex-service man.
The suspected killer, identified as one Didi Odudu,was alleged to have trailed the deceased to the Farm located at Ewhogho bush and attacked him with a huge stick.The deceased was reported to have passed out and the suspected killer reportedly cut him into small pieces.
According to some members of the community, the suspect later heaped a pile of dry leaves and sticks on the mutilated body and set it on fire.The heavy smoke and smell of burning flesh attracted the attention of the indigenes of Otuokpotu community.
According to one of the villagers, Kelvin Oruoa, "the smell was offensive.Many youths and other elders organized a search party to know the source.We discovered the site and found the suspect with blood stains."
Meanwhile, the yet to be identified 32-year-old man was found hanging from a delapidated building at the Police Barracks, close to the Ministry of Women Affairs in the state capital.
A shop owner close to the scene, Mrs Ebitare Odingidi, said he saw the man on Saturday night when he came to buy cigarette and a bottle of sprit, "I never knew he had the intention of killing himself. Such a handsome boy."
The 18-year-old girl found hanging within the Azikoro town in Yenagoa Local Government was reported to be staying with her parents who are indigenes of Edo State. It has been gathered from neighbors that the deceased girl has been having it rough with her mother over undisclosed issue before she was discovered hanging from a tree in the area.
